When I began in the Instructional Lab Coordinator position in September of 2017, much of the processes within the center were still on paper. Over time, it became my goal to digitize as much of this as possible.
The Front Desk Clipboard
To improve our sign-up process for students using center services, we implemented an online version of the front desk clipboard. Previously, students would put their name on a physical piece of paper, shown below.

The original paper process meant that the front desk wasn't informed of who was next, the tutors and instructors had to physically check the clipboard to find out whose name should be called, and we were unable to gather any data on wait times for the students using our services.
Enter the Digital Clipboard.

The screenshot of the Digital Clipboard displays a typical day of sign-ups within the Multidisciplinary Success Center. Each column is sortable and under Total Student Wait Time, there is a formula which calculates the sign up time vs the time seen. If the wait time is over 15 minutes, it lights up as orange. The student sign ups are entered by front desk workers and it is their responsibility to call out the student names as instructors and tutors become available to assist students. This has resulted in greater communication and awareness between our entire floor staff.
