In the age of technology and information overload, it can sometimes be challenging to get on the same page with student workers who are all on different schedules. Text messages and e-mails can sometimes be missed, so I use a front desk blog that my employees check each time they come in to their shift. But the blog is used for more than policy changes and scheduling updates.

Before each semester begins, I create a post where all of the necessary bookmarks they will need are easily accessible. This allows me to update and make changes whenever I need to, rather than having to email a new link or new information to the entire team each time there is an adjustment.

In addition, the room calendars for our center are put on the blog through Google Calendar so if one of our conference rooms is requested, the front desk workers can quickly see whether the space is available.

The front desk blog is a one stop shop for the front desk, where they can find any information they may need for their job at the click of a button.
